ABB is one of the world's leading providers of digitised and automated production lines. Our brief was to create a suite of six concepts that individually expressed key benefits, but that could come together to support a global repositioning campaign across all media. Our solution, as ever, was to seek the simplest and clearest execution of the client's key benefits.


Pleasingly, this won Best Integrated B2B Campaign at The Drum Awards 2019, and Gold for Most Commercially Successful campaign at the B2B Marketing Awards.



INSTAGRAM CAMPAIGN FOR GILL FISHING



GILL is one of America's most respected clothing brands for fishing and sailing enthusiasts. I was tasked with creating headlines for two of their latest technical fishing garments. Despite looking like an ordinary hoodie and shirt, these high tech tops literally repel everything from blood and guts to river water.

The agency already had an idea when I got involved in the project: to let the talented and committed Fuller's Kitchen chefs speak for themselves. I pitched in to provide script support for the video shoot, write the website and Facebook pages that supported the campaign, and help to tease the best poster headlines out of Fuller's fantastic chefs. And yes, the food is just as good as the beer...

Star Wars™: The Force Awakens is one of the most comprehensive Special Stamp issues of recent years. I worked with Royal Mail's design agency to create a suite of both digital and print marketing materials; closely following the copy guidelines set by both Lucasfilm™ and Disney®.

Castrol is the world's leading oil company, with an offering that encompasses thousands of highly engineered lubricants and fluids. I was brought on board to rewrite the entire US website, which involved interviewing experts in every sector from around the world. The subjects ranged from motorcycle oil to wind turbine lubricant, making for a fascinating learning experience as well as a major challenge in meeting the project's demanding SEO objectives.

ONE WORLD ONE VOICE WEBSITE



One World One Voice was a musical experiment that the BBC funded in 1990 as part of the One World Fortnight collaboration between broadcasters in 27 countries. It became an album produced by the late Rupert Hine and a documentary made by Kevin Godley. 30 Years later, Roop and Kevin got together with Cherry Red Records to re-release the album to coincide with the re-showing of the documentary by the BBC. I was fortunate enough to be asked to handle the writing and some of the filming, and along the way got to discover that some of the world's greatest recording artists are also among the world's nicest people when you interview them on Zoom. You'll see what I mean in the Artist Comments section, and I also recommend buying the album, especially as all royalties go to Friends of the Earth, courtesy of Roop and Kevin.





NEXCEL WEBSITE



Nexcel has created an entirely new way to change and manage the oil in internal combustion engines. So this was a rare opportunity for me to have my mind blown by something I'd never seen before; and to take up the challenge of writing the website for a real game-changer in the world of automotive engineering.

What do CadDo do? That's a very good question. And the answer, of course is, that they, er, well, they create ESG scores, obviously. But look, it's quite technical. Fortunately, they have very patient tech guys, and it turns out that I'm pretty OK when it comes to making complex technical subjects easy to understand.



ROYAL MAIL YEAR PACK 2014



It was my huge privilege to write the online and offline copy for every Royal Mail Special Stamp issue from 2008 to 2017, which comprised more than 100 Special issues on subjects ranging from Jane Austen to Star Wars. However, on rare occasions I also got to contribute to the products themselves, such as when I penned this verse for the Year Pack. This contained all 12 of the 2014 Special Stamp issues: Classic Children's TV, Working Horses, Classic Locomotives, Remarkable Lives, Buckingham Palace, Great British Film, Sustainable Fish, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, The Great War - 1914, Seaside Architecture, Prime Ministers and Christmas 2014.



Digital and DIRECT CAMPAIGN FOR BREWIN DOLPHIN



Wealth management specialists Brewin Dolphin wished to promote their services to IFAs, on the basis that they could reduce the burden of new regulation, freeing financial advisers up to spend more time engaging with their clients. We did so through a combination of DM and digital pieces, all of which expounded on a very simple proposition.
